Mil-spec is a documentation standard as much as a hardware one

Buying a MIL-DTL-38999 connector does not make an assembly mil-spec. What makes it acceptable is that the wire, contacts, backshell, workmanship, and testing all match the drawing, and that you can prove it later from records.

We build to the print and keep that proof: material traceability, the drawing revision in force, test results, and inspection sign-off tied to the lot that shipped.

Terminations and backshells

Circular mil-spec work concentrates risk at the connector. Contact crimps must be made with the correct positioner and die and verified by pull test. Contacts must be fully seated. Backshells must clamp the bundle without crushing insulation, and the shield must terminate the way the design intends rather than however is convenient.

Strain relief and tie-wrap patterns follow the drawing, because on a ruggedized platform the difference between a harness that survives vibration and one that chafes through is exactly that level of detail.

Workmanship the program can accept

IPC/WHMA-A-620 is our default acceptance standard, and we build to customer-specific procedures and MIL-STD requirements where a program calls for them. Operators are trained against those criteria, and inspection is performed against the same written standard rather than personal preference.

First-article inspection documentation is available, and we support program-specific inspection and reporting requirements when they are defined up front.

Defense and aerospace programs, built domestically

All manufacturing is performed in the USA, which for defense-adjacent work removes a category of sourcing and traceability risk that is hard to manage otherwise.

FAQ

Common questions

Which MIL connector families do you build?

MIL-DTL-38999, MIL-DTL-26482, MIL-DTL-5015, and related circular families, plus MIL-STD backshells with proper strain relief and shield termination.

Do you build to MIL-SPEC wire callouts?

Yes. We buy and build to the wire specification on your drawing, including PTFE and ETFE insulated aerospace-grade constructions.

What documentation comes with a MIL-SPEC build?

Certificates of Conformance, material traceability, continuity and hipot records, and first-article inspection documentation on request.

Do you support defense program traceability?

Yes. Lot-level traceability ties material, drawing revision, operator, and test results to the assemblies shipped.

Are these built in the USA?

Yes. 100% of our manufacturing is performed in the USA.

Ready to spec your build?

Send drawings or a BOM 24/7 — our USA-based Sales team responds during business hours.
